Digitial File Formats

We prefer Adobe Illustrator® vector art. Accepted file formats include EPS, press-quality PDF, PSD, JPG, JPEG, TIF, TIFF, and PNG. Please keep layered Photoshop® files intact. We also accept:

  • Photos - Send photos in TIFF format and scanned in at 300 DPI at full size.
  • Line Art - Art should be created in a vector art based program like Illustrator®. If this is not possible, submit scanned image at 800 PPI.
  • Vector Art - Vector art is made up of curves and points and has no placed or raster graphics.
  • Raster Art - Raster art is made up of tiny boxes and arranged based on pixels per inch (PPI; some refer to this as DPI). We prefer that all raster images come to us at a resolution of 600–1200 PPI at printed size.
  • Art Charges -  Cleanup of artwork will incur an additional charge of $67.60/hour (D) with a minimum charge of 1 hour.

Color

We only use a CMYK/spot color space, not RGB. All single color jobs should be provided to us in black and white. All multi-colored jobs should be sent in vector format with the appropriate spot/process colors selected.

Fonts

When creating art please create outlines in Illustrator® for your fonts or send the full font for printing purposes.

The Use of Web Art

Emailed artwork must include: Artwork used on the internet is meant for viewing only. The images on web sites have been scanned at 72 pixels per inch and are not intended to be printed. We cannot accept these images for print reproduction.

Unless a specific layout is requested, copy will be set to compliment the product. Artwork is kept on file for a period of one calendar year.

Send art to: artwork@wpcpp.com

Artwork Hints & Tips

Customer Supplied Artwork plays an important part in striving to manufacture the highest quality product. Files that are supplied at high resolution will produce the best possible imprint quality. Here are some easy and helpful hints:

QuarkXPress® or InDesign®

Specify all colors as either as PMS spot colors or CMYK; exactly the way you want them printed. Keep images at 100% whenever possible to avoid changes or errors.

Illustrator®

Use CMYK color code and specify your colors either as PMS spot colors or CMYK to ensure that you get the colors you are expecting.

Photoshop®

Please send black and white art files at the size they are to be printed. Resolution should be 600–1200 PPI. Continuous Tone Images should be at 300 PPI and at the correct size to be printed (lower resolutions may result in loss of quality).

Acrobat Hints

Please submit file exactly as it is to be used for positioning, size, colors, and bleeds. Fonts should be outline before making the PDF file whenever possible.

Foil Stamping Quality Guide

Foil stamping is a combination of heat and pressure along with an etched magnesium plate to seal in a great looking foil imprint. Art for foil stamping should be sent in as black and white line art. Please note that foil stamping may cause fine detail or screens to fill in and change your image. See illustrations A and B below.

Illustration A, Bad Artwork

This logo includes shading and beveled edges, which we cannot foil stamp.

Illustration B, Good Artwork

Good artwork includes no fine lines, shading, or screens.
